Chaired by Rotarian, Ralph Cunningham, The Rotary Club of Tulsa's Vocational Service Avenue focuses on maintaining the Club's business standards and ethics, and promoting vocational excellence.

Specifically, this Avenue of Service encourages and fosters high ethical standards in business and professional service, and recognizes the worthiness of all occupations as an opportunity to serve society.

Reviews applications, determines appropriate classification, presents qualified candidates to the Board for Club membership.

Promote participation in Fireside meetings, designed to promote fellowship among members, learn about Rotary and discuss issues pertinent to our Rotary Club.  Assists Rotary members in hosting Fireside meetings in their homes or places of business. Information gathered at Fireside meetings is compiled and reported to the Board of Directors.

Time Commitment: mid-January through mid-April

Coordinates membership recruiting and development activiities to secure quality membership application submissions. Also follows up on new member referrals. Works in partnership with Membership Retention to ensure overall club growth.

Because active Club attendance is vital to membership retention, members of this Committee work together to remind Rotarians of their attendance commitments and to encourage their participation at weekly meetings. Secures volunteers to take weekly meeting attendance via hand-held scanners at the badge boxes and recognizes members for perfect attendance. Contacts members with declining attendance to encourage meeting make-ups at area clubs or online eclubs Works to identify participation issues and restore member to active service, working in partnership with Membership Recruiting to assure club growth.

Time Commitment: Monthly rotation 5-6 times per year

Provides Club orientation for each new member of the Rotary Club of Tulsa before the new member is introduced to the Club. Committee members are assigned to one month of the Rotary year to conduct orientation. The committee also assigns a back-up individual for each month.

Time Commitment: Monthly rotation 5-6 times per year

Elaine Moore Jones

Insures that ill or hospitalized Rotarians receive get well greetings, and in times of a death or serious situation in a Rotarian's family, organizes expressions of care and concern.

Time Commitment: Ongoing as needed

Leigh Murray

Builds fellowship among members by coordinating social events and organizing sporting events. Coordinates events and logistics related to annual reciprocal meetings between the Rotary Club of Tulsa and the Rotary Club of Oklahoma City.

Time Commitment: As scheduled, 4-6 times per year

 

vETERAN SUPPORT

Steve Wood

Interfaces with the Veterans Entrepreneurship Program at Oklahma State University, serving as mentors to veterans while in Oklahoma for the final two weeks of their entrepreneurship training and graduation. Continues contact and relationship as the veteran returns to their home location, and helps identify a local Rotarian to extend encouragement and support as the veteran launches their new business.

Sponsors Business Visitation Day in which Rotarians invite fellow members to visit either their place of work or another site for lunch and a brief program to familiarize Club members with the host's vocation. The Committee charge is to familiarize our membership with the vocations of other members.

Paul Bauman

Coordinate completion of requirements to be met by new members in order to receive Blue Badges, including attendance at yearling orientation sessions, serving as meeting greeter, and attending a Club Board meeting. Conduct yearling orientation training sessions, providing classes for new Rotarians to better understand our Club and how to become an active Rotarian.
