District Programs
Service Above Self. It's the meaning of these three simple words that has led so many Rotarians to recognize and take the initiative needed to make a difference in the lives of others. That's been the case with members of the Rotary Club of Tulsa who, through their vision and determination, have initiated projects that have since become District 6110 Programs.
One such program is MEDICAL SUPPLIES NETWORK, INC., which exists today because of the recognition of Rotarian Jack Maxwell (then a member of the Rotary Club of Tulsa), who discovered the needs of developing countries, learning how frustrated doctors and nurses in these countries were because they did not have the means to provide the kind of care they knew their patients needed.
The Medical Supplies Network, Inc. provides free medical equipment and supplies for those in need throughout the world. To learn more and get involved, visit www.msni.org.
The Rotary Club of Tulsa also supports District 6110's DICTIONARY PROJECT, launched as a Rotary project by Stan Dixon (dec.), a member of the Southside Rotary Club, and coordinated today by Rotarian Gary Pollmiller. This rewarding, yet simple literacy project provides personalized, paperback dictionaries to every third grader. As of December 2009, the Project has distributed more than 125,000 dictionaries to children throughout District 6110.
