Leadership Retreat Sets The Stage For New Year
By Denise Mason Chambers
Editor and Chair, GasserOnline

President-elect Del Dreyer recently hosted a leadership retreat for the Rotary Club of Tulsa, setting the stage for the coming year. In attendance were incoming board members and committee chairs for the organization.

“It is an honor and a privilege to be part of Rotary," said Del. "Many times — especially when traveling — I've had complete strangers comment about my Rotary pin and what it represents. As Rotarians, we are part of an organization that is respected worldwide, and we each benefit from that reputation. Rotary truly stands an international symbol of friendship and service.”

Del then introduced Rotary's theme for the coming year — "The Future of Rotary is in Your Hands" — and challenged the group to increase the impact of our Club through service, and extend our reach by inviting our friends, neighbors and coworkers, to join our cause as members of Rotary.

The group then heard from Dr. Raj Basu, Vice President for Academic Affairs at OSU-Tulsa, who talked about leadership, power and influence — especially inside an organization where peers work together as volunteers. Club member, Karen Wicker, spoke about Rotary's Effort for Inclusion, and the group also heard from District Governor-Elect, Wallace Williams, as well as Long Range Planning Chair, Bob Saied; Executive Director, Donna Mercier; Treasurer-elect, Jake Dollarhide; and incoming Chairs Melissa Clark (PR and Marketing), Denise Chambers (GasserOnline) and Mike Homan (Web Site).
